  Silk Painting

Instructor:  Rhea Jeffereis Vittal

Learn to paint a beautiful Habotai Silk. No supplies or art experience needed.  
 

Rhea is an experienced artist in silk painting.  For the past 15 years, she has taught at many art institutions both in the U.S. and abroad, and has exhibited her works in London, Bombay, and San Francisco . This would make a beautiful gift for the holidays!
Rhea's scarves are also for sale at Belle's Nest.

Paper Mache Candy Bowl...

pumpkin candy bowl

Involves blowing up a balloon, orange crepe paper (pumpkin skin), glue and lots of fun! Jack-o-lantern features can be scary or funny!!!  Once they are done, we wait for a week for them to dry, be sealed then picked up.  You will be left with a lovely candy bowl to reuse for years to come.

In this class you will learn to remove your chair seat along with the fabric and padding.
You will add fresh foam, cotton and a new layer of fabric and reattach it to your chair.
A simple procedure that seems daunting at first but once you get started, you will feel
like a pro!
You will need:

1 chair - simple w/a seat pad is best.
1 yard fabric (fabric will also be available for sale)
**this will cover at least 4 chairs even though you will cover only one in this class
Decorative trim if you wish
Screwdriver (regular and Phillips)
Hammer
Needle Nose Pliers
Scissors
Tape Measure

*Carolyn will help you with ideas regarding stripping, faux finishing and painting also.

Over the summer....

Do you believe summer is just about over! Technically it's still summer, but once sounds of kids disappear from the streets we tend to focus on the coming of fall...how quickly our summer went.

Our first summer at Belle's Nest...
What can I say, some wonderful families came in, we met great new customers and our kids classes were fun, experimental and truly creative...every week was something different.

Since the classes were a success, we have decided to continue with kids classes throughout the school year. Beginning October, classes will continue on Thursday afternoons 3:30-5pm with a new selection of crafts....
Check back, we'll keep you posted.

OUR HOUSE

Instructor: Tyn Atol

An exploration in collage and image transfer and embellishing techniques like doodles! Let your imagination run free and you will be surprised with how inventive and creative you really are. A very non- threatening introduction to basic collage techniques as well as a sure fire image transfer process that can be carried over into many different formats. All materials are provided, but students are invited to email instructor up to 4 images that they might like to use for image transfer~ they will be ready for you on the day of class...please give instructor 24 hours to process.

Embracing The Happy Accident: Free Form Creatures From Repurposed Materlals
How to See a Face in a Sweater Sleeve.

Instructor: Zazu Faure

No patterns necessary to make abstract free form animals all fashioned from repurposed sweater sleeves.
Learn to model a bunny through stuffing, see a fish face in a cuff, or create a pig snout in a few simple folds.
The possibilities are endless. Materials provided. Basic hand sewing skills recommended.

ages: Ages 7 and up (Adults welcome too)

This is Oinkers...he became my daughter's favorite stuffed animal because she made it.
Zazu is a wonderful instructor...she is an architect by trade and moonlights as an avid sewer and creature maker...her work is amazing!
